Cancelling November 2nd lockdown of Islamabad! Imran’s Mature Decision?

Another political twist in the short, glamorous and fast political career of PTI’s Imran Khan.

Protesting against the sitting Prime Minster of Pakistan Nawaz Shareef for the investigation of “Panama

Leaks” (One of the biggest leaks in journalistic history reveals the secretive offshore companies used to hide wealth,

evade taxes and commit fraud by the world's leaders, dictators, business tycoons and

criminals). The scandal started on 9th of May, 2016. Since then the International Media and
Intergovernmental organizations have been discussing and investigating the leaks on their own. “Where
there is Corruption there must be a Pakistani”, this is not a quotation of some famous world leader but
this notion is the reality. Same did happen in Panama Papers scandal the first family of Pakistan the
family of Prime Minster were the alleged part of the mega corruption scandal.

“Islamabad Lock” Down was a part of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s “Tehreek-E-Ehtesab March” against
people named in Panama Leaks. The plan was to lockdown Islamabad and bring all the activities of
capital of Pakistan to a halt! Imran Khan the leader considered as beacon of light for the youth of
Pakistan was once again in the headlines after 2014’s Islamabad sit-in that lasted for 120+ days and
ended after an unfortunate terrorist attack killed 140 students in the Peshawar city of KPK lead by
Imran’s PTI. But this year Imran vowed to attack on corruption and corrupt people with more force,
zeal and power. Corruption is menace it should be uprooted from the society it is not the work of Imran
only but each and every individual of the nation has the duty to end corruption.

Since last few days the political scenario of Pakistan was very hot and declining. Be it the acts of Sheikh
Rasheed in Rawalpindi or the arrival of PTI’s worker from KPK and all the other places of Pakistan. The
siege of Bani Galla or the arrest of party workers brought back the memories of dictatorship of Zia ul
Haq. The mishandling of female party workers and tear gas shelling was an inappropriate act by the
behalf of police and the people in power.

After these hot days comes the verdict of Supreme Court of Pakistan that is as “to form a commission
to investigate revelations that Sharif's children held offshore bank accounts”. The court further said "We
are determined to resolve this issue. We will solve it and we will solve it as soon as possible. Now the
highest forum in the country in regards to dispute resolution has taken up this matter, so now you hold
your positions, please restrain," Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, part of the bench hearing the case.
Soon after the ruling Imran Khan empathetically said, "I am so happy that the Supreme Court has
decided that from Thursday it will begin probing Nawaz Sharif". After that he claimed the plans for the
lockdown of capital have been postponed and instead they will celebrate a day of thanks giving after
the court ruling.

Well many of you might remember a day of thanks giving celebrated by Jinnah and his fellows after
Indian National Congress resigned from the government of center in British India, but his day of thanks
giving is totally different from that at least.

Before even the talks for the lockdown started people mostly from PML-N, their ministers and all anti establishment cadre started accusing Imran for making a stage for an alleged coup on the basis of
Islamabad Lockdown (many of you might remember same was said during 2014 sit ins) but the decision
Imran took to cancel/post pone the Islamabad Lock down was indeed one of the best and mature
decision’s he took in his short political career. He shut specially all the mouths blaming him for an
upcoming coup. To be specific the current state of army apparently is as if they are not interested in
politics and so it looks since last few years but yet in one way or other army has influenced the politics
of Pakistan.

In the end, it is to be decided by you if Imran’s decision was a pure political and mature decision to
cancel/postpone the Lockdown?
